During my journey from photo-realism to impressionism, I have come to believe that successful painting
requires collaboration between the artist and the viewers. The artist's role in this relationship is to try to create
pleasing images on canvas by manipulating color, edges, texture and tonality in order to create enough detail so
that the subject is recognizable to the viewer, but leaving enough mystery to allow them to bring their own unique perceptions
to the painting. For me, a realist by instinct, the challenge is to leave enough to the imagination in order to
create that mystery. With luck, less truly becomes more.
